Strategic Collaboration for Interdisciplinary Research on Open Science in the SSH
The SCIROS Validation Conference took place in Warsaw on 18–19 May 2026. Its purpose was to review the main project outcomes, validate the work carried out with partners, and discuss possible forms of future cooperation after the end of the project. The meeting combined the assessment of scientific and public-facing outputs with a more strategic discussion on the role SCIROS could play in relation to OPERAS.

When the paper ‘Towards a Contextualised Spatial-Diachronic History of Literature: Mapping Emotional Representations of the City and the Country in Polish Fiction from 1864 to 1939’, introduced the (meta)corpus creation workflow, I had the feeling that it could serve a greater and more general purpose than for only one type of resource. Since then, I have been trying to use it as a model for data-driven research within the humanities.

In an effort to translate Open Science principles into practical guidance for research assessment, OPERAS, the lead of the GraspOS Pilot on Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), and SCIROS brought together SSH experts for a collaborative on site workshop aimed at validating draft guidelines and recommendations. The session embodied a fundamental principle: a meaningful reform must be shaped by the communities it serves. Rather than presenting finished products, the workshop functioned as a structured dialogue; an opportunity for participants to review ideas, identify gaps, and ensure that guidance reflected the views of the community.
